The deal, in plain words.
What you agree to when you sell your work through Exoplate, and what we agree to in return. They apply from when we approve you to sell, alongside our terms and privacy policy.
The short version
25%
of every sale we make
Of the print's price, less £5 towards packing and delivery.
30%
when you bring them
Anything bought through your own link within 30 days.
The 7th
paid every month
By bank transfer, through Stripe, for every sale that's ready by the end of the month before.
£25
smallest payout
Anything less carries into the next month. It's never lost.
No fees to sell here. No exclusivity. You keep the copyright, and you can stop whenever you like.
Who this is between
You, and Exoplate. You can reach us at support@exoplate.com.
Your work stays yours
You keep the copyright in everything you sell here. Selling a print never transfers it, to us or to the buyer.
By listing a piece you give us permission to print it, sell those prints, and show the piece in our shop and in our marketing, for as long as it's listed. That permission isn't exclusive: sell the same work anywhere else you like. When a piece comes down we stop selling it and stop using it in anything new, but we still make and send orders already placed.
You confirm that each piece is your own work, that you have the right to sell prints of it, and that it doesn't copy or use anyone else's work, photographs or likeness without permission. If somebody tells us a piece infringes their rights, we may take it down while we look into it, and we'll tell you.
Listings
A person reviews every piece before it goes on sale. We may ask for changes, such as a larger file, or decline a piece, and we'll tell you why. You can take a piece down yourself from your studio at any time.
We set the prices in the shop, and may run offers, such as a discount on several prints bought together. Your share is always of what a print actually sold for.
What you earn
- 25% of each print we sell through the shop, worked out on the print's price less £5 per print towards packing and delivery, because our prices include delivery.
- 30% of anything bought through your own link within 30 days of someone following it.
- Your share is of the print alone. It doesn't include delivery, frames, or anything else in the order.
- We pay for the paper, ink, printing, packaging, postage and card fees. Nothing is ever charged to you.
When and how you're paid
- Monthly, on the 7th. Each payout covers every sale that's ready by the end of the month before. Banks usually show it within a few working days.
- A sale is ready 20 days after we send the order. We wait so any return is dealt with first: a buyer has 14 days to change their mind, and money we've paid you is never taken back for one.
- Payouts start at £25. Less than that carries into the next month's payout.
- By bank transfer, through Stripe. You add your bank details to Stripe once you're approved; we never see or hold them. Where Stripe can't pay into your country, we'll arrange to pay you another way. Until your details are set up, what you've earned is kept for you.
- In pounds sterling. Your studio shows every sale, what's ready to pay, and each payout.
Refunds
If an order is refunded, in full or in part, your share of it is refunded too. If we've already paid you for it, the difference comes off your next payout.
Tax
We pay you your share in full, without deducting tax. You're responsible for declaring what you earn here and paying any tax due on it.
Stopping
You can stop selling here whenever you like: take your pieces down from your studio, or write to us and we'll close it for you.
We can stop you selling, for example if work turns out not to be yours to sell, or if these terms are broken. If we do, we'll tell you why, and your prints come off the shop straight away.
Either way, orders already placed are still made and sent, and you're paid what you've earned on the usual schedule.
Changes to these terms
If we change what you earn or how you're paid, we'll email you at least 30 days before the change applies. What a sale earns, and when it's ready to pay, are fixed when it's made and sent, so a change never alters what you've already sold.
Law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and disputes may be brought in its courts.
